We are no longer requiring advanced registration for indoor visits with a loved one at Jewish Home Assisted Living
We understand the importance of our residents maximizing time with loved ones. The health and safety of our elders, visitors, employees, and our communities remain a top priority. Therefore, as a safety precaution to prevent the risk of spreading COVID-19, together with Fleur Catudga, RN, our full-time Infection Control Preventionist, we have instituted visitor guidelines in accordance with recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the New Jersey Department of Health.

Dear Family Member,
We are pleased to inform you that CMS has lifted many of the visiting restrictions that have been in place during the COVID-19 pandemic. There are many key points in the new guidance and we have detailed them for you below:
- The guidance continues to recommend that any non-vaccinated visitors conduct visits outdoors.
- For those who are vaccinated, you no longer need to make an appointment to visit either indoors or outdoors. We do ask for consideration regarding the total number in the room or apartment at any one time to allow for social distancing. The online appointment system is being discontinued effective immediately.
- Visitors are to go directly to the elder’s room or apartment and are still not permitted to be walking different hallways of the building or attending programs or events. Parties and other family gatherings, that would take place outside the elder’s room, are still not permitted.
- If the visitor and elder are both fully vaccinated, and the elder is not either moderately or severely immunocompromised, masks may be removed during visits in the elder’s room or apartment. Masks must be worn around other elders or healthcare personnel.
- Indoor visiting is prohibited for children under the age of 12.
- If there is an outbreak in the building (that means one positive case), you may still visit but will be asked to wear a mask at all times but visiting will still be permitted.
- CMS, as does the Jewish Home, strongly encourages everyone to be fully vaccinated. It is mandatory for our staff and all of our elders have also chosen to be vaccinated. We believe strongly that this is the best means we have to protect ourselves and those we care about.
We will continue to maintain our strict use of PPE as well as our infection control and cleaning and sanitizing protocols. We hope that you, too, are being cautious in your personal lives.
As always, please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
Be well,
