Shabbat Services Transportation Program
The Jewish Home at Rockleigh, Russ Berrie Home for Jewish Living, in its continuing effort to enhance the lives of the elderly in our community by providing needed programs and services, offers help to homebound elderly in Bergen County who would like to attend Shabbat Services.
The program is being offered by the Home as the result of anonymous underwriting from a generous member of the community who shares the Home’s mission of helping seniors remain independent and maintain the ability to remain in their own homes for as long as possible.
Seniors in the community who would like to attend services but are unable to get to services on their own can arrange to have the Jewish Home at Rockleigh pick them up on Shabbat and Jewish holidays, enabling them to attend religious services at the handicapped accessible chapel at Jewish Home. Return transportation is also provided.
The programs will provide two benefits. In addition to serving those in the community, the program will help ensure that there is a minyan for residents of the Jewish Home, as well as bringing the outside community into the Home.
The program is designed to meet the religious and social needs of seniors in our community. After the services, participants are invited to lunch at the Home.
For further information on either program, contact Chuck Berkowitz at 201-750-4230.
