Heart to Heart – National Council of Jewish Women

If you were wondering about the dynamic dancers at the Jewish Home at Rockleigh’s Hearts and Flowers Party, you may (or may not be…) surprised to learn that they were all members of the National Council of Jewish Women.

NCJW sponsored this event providing the “heart” by virtue of their spirited presence and the flowers – beautiful carnations given to everyone in attendance. They also sponsored the entertainer, Ms. Edlene Hart, a wonderful vocal artist who specializes in “Heart to Heart” entertainment.

This particular program is just part of the new, more active membership spearheaded by Karen Kurland and Carole Benson. This year, volunteers from NCJW sponsored and/or participated in a variety of special events at the Jewish Home at Rockleigh including a Hanukkah Party, a Games and Goodies Galore program, the Hearts and Flowers Party and an April Fools’ Passover Barbeque. Plans are also “in the works” to create a Coney Island Day for the residents of the Jewish Home this spring.

Some women volunteer as “scribes” for an on-going Writer’s Workshop while others volunteer in the gift shop, coordinated by Elaine Pollack. NCJW also provides the funding necessary to provide Tai Chi classes.

Every volunteer experience shared is special and it has truly been a wonderful experience to share in the heart-felt friendship and support so graciously given by the National Council of Jewish Women, Bergen County Section.
