The popcorn machine was cranked up and the hors d’oeuvres and champagne were passed as residents, members of the community, board members and family members gathered on Sunday afternoon, November 18th to dedicate the Sandra Gold—Lynne Klatskin Theater. The theater, newly equipped with state-of-the-art projection, screen and sound systems, was donated by Barbara and Norman Seiden in honor of special birthdays celebrated by Sandra and Lynne.
At the “Premier Opening,” the crowd overflowing into the hallway, was treated to performances by the very musically talented grandchildren of both the Golds and Klatskins; Mikayla Gold Benson, Joshua Gold Benson, Edward Isikoff Klatskin, and Lillian Isikoff Klatskin under the direction of their instructor, Amelia Gold Benson. The ovations were well deserved.
Then the lights dimmed for the much anticipated showing of the film classic and winner of the Academy Award for Best Picture in 1943—“Casablanca” starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman—specifically chosen by the residents of the Home. It was a wonderful afternoon, and all agreed “Here’s Looking at You Kid”!
